The Island of Freedom documents the stories of Taiwanese, Hong Kong, and Central and Eastern European characters, set against the backdrop of recent political exchanges between Taiwan and countries such as the Czech Republic and Ukraine. It portrays their actions and bravery in the face of global powers like Russia and China. No country is too small to create a change.
The film is in the development stage, supported by the Czech Film Fund and a grant from the Oriental Institute of the Academy of Czech Sciences. It is co-produced with the Czech production company Hypermarket Film, Slovak Kerekes Film, and Taiwanese co-producer Diana Chia Wenlee.
